DR Flavors & Ingredients received the Green Wave Trophy on Friday (September 26) during the Expressão Ecology Award ceremony, held in Florianópolis, SC. The company was recognized in the Solid Waste category (Food sector) for its Zero Waste Program, an initiative at its São Bernardo do Campo, SP facility, which achieved Zero Landfill status.

Implemented in 2024, the Zero Waste Program is part of DR’s strategy for sustainability, innovation, environmental and social responsibility, and the Circular Economy. In less than a year, the facility diverted 198.5 tons of waste from landfills by sending organic materials for composting, non-recyclable waste for energy recovery, and recyclable materials for recycling.

Representing DR at the ceremony were the manager of the São Bernardo do Campo unit, Renato Valdemiro Schroeder, the Marketing Director, Marco Henriques, who went on stage to receive the trophy, and the sustainability analyst, Maria Eduarda Guandalini Grubba.

In addition, the facility reduced the volume of waste generated by 6.37% through process optimization and strengthened its Packaging Reverse Logistics program, recovering 207.27 tons of materials and contributing to income generation for 93 waste picker cooperatives.

Considered one of the country’s most prestigious environmental awards, the Expressão Ecology Award has been presented by Editora Expressão since 1993, with the endorsement of Brazil’s Ministry of the Environment. In this edition, 146 projects were submitted, and 54 initiatives representing 40 organizations received awards. In addition to receiving the Green Wave Trophy, the winning projects are featured in Revista Líderes de Expressão, a publication that highlights outstanding corporate and institutional sustainability initiatives across Southern Brazil and the state of São Paulo.

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>The company received the award in the Solid Waste category within the Food sector for an initiative that achieved the Zero Landfill milestone in less than one year at its São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo facility.</em></p> <p class="wp-block-paragraph">DR Flavors &amp; Ingredients was recognized at the Expressão de Ecologia Awards, an environmental award established in 1993 and considered one of the most traditional in Brazil. Promoted by Editora Expressão, the initiative is endorsed by Brazil’s Ministry of the Environment and has received 3,541 project submissions throughout its history, establishing itself as a benchmark for corporate and institutional sustainability across Southern Brazil and the state of São Paulo.</p> <p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the latest edition (2025/2026), DR was the winner in the Solid Waste category (Food sector) with the Zero Waste Program, implemented at its São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo facility. The initiative is part of the company’s strategy for sustainability, innovation, socio-environmental responsibility, and the Circular Economy.</p> <p class="wp-block-paragraph">The program was implemented in 2024 and, in less than one year, the facility achieved the Zero Landfill milestone by diverting <strong>198.5 tons</strong> of waste for recovery: organic waste for composting, non-recyclable waste for energy recovery, and recyclable materials for recycling. In addition, the facility optimized its processes, reducing the volume of waste generated by 6.37%, and promoted packaging reverse logistics, recovering <strong>207.27 tons</strong> of materials and <strong>generating income for 93 waste picker cooperatives.</strong></p> <p class="wp-block-paragraph">A total of 146 projects were submitted for this edition of the Expressão de Ecologia Awards.
