The 2025 Emissions Inventory highlights progress in the company’s climate strategy, which also earned the Gold Seal from the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program
Jaraguá do Sul (SC), July 2026 – DR Flavors & Ingredients, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of flavors, extracts, and ingredients for the global food and beverage industry, reduced its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 26% in 2025 compared to the previous year.
The result covers Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, which represent the company’s direct and indirect emissions, respectively, and is documented in its Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory. Prepared annually, the report serves as a tool for climate monitoring and the development of decarbonization initiatives. It covers DR’s Brazilian operations in Jaraguá do Sul, Santa Catarina; Estância, Sergipe; and São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo.
In 2025, DR achieved another environmental milestone by earning the Gold Seal from the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program One of the country’s most prestigious environmental recognitions, the award is granted by the Fundação Getulio Vargas to companies that submit their annual greenhouse gas emissions inventories to independent third-party verification, demonstrating the traceability and accuracy of the reported information. Until then, the company had held the Silver Seal, which it received in 2024.
“More than simply measuring emissions, the inventory enables us to identify opportunities for improvement and direct investments toward projects that generate positive impacts for both the business and the environment. Advancing to the Gold Seal and reducing our emissions demonstrate the maturity of our environmental management and the company’s commitment to a sustainable growth agenda,” says Marcelo Giacomini, Administrative and Finance Director at DR Flavors & Ingredients.
DR has invested in initiatives to increase operational efficiency and reduce its environmental impact. These initiatives include the installation of more efficient steam-generating equipment with enhanced environmental controls, which reduced annual carbon monoxide (CO) emissions by 76.3%, as well as reductions in refrigerant gas consumption, wood chip usage, and reductions in the organic load processed at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Other initiatives include expanding the use of renewable energy, implementing a photovoltaic-powered heating system, monitoring energy consumption through telemetry, and developing projects to recover and repurpose industrial waste.
Environmental management is one of the pillars of DR Flavors & Ingredients’ ESG strategy. The company monitors energy, water, waste, and atmospheric emissions indicators across all of its manufacturing facilities and integrates this data into its strategic management system. The company’s climate agenda was further strengthened by its participation in the United Nations Global Compact and the Movimento ODS Santa Catarina, further aligning the company with the world’s leading sustainability initiatives. “The transition to a low-carbon economy is a collective challenge. Our role is to continue investing in innovation, efficiency, and sustainable development to create value for our customers, society, and the environment,” concludes Marcelo Giacomini.
