Duas Rodas participated in the main ingredients fair in Latin America, demonstrating applications that add functionality and technology to food and beverages
As concern for health becomes increasingly important among consumers, many of them are willing to invest in foods that promote well-being and quality of life.
Natural food movements reflect this behavior, focusing on products that deliver functionality and reduced versions of ingredients such as sodium, fat and sugar, while preserving flavor.
According to a Mintel survey, for 36% of Brazilians, the most important factor when buying food is the fact that it is a source of vitamins and minerals. For 34%, the food must contain natural ingredients and for 32%, it must be low in sugar.
The study also found that 36% of Brazilian consumers prefer foods that help maintain a healthy weight, while 26% prefer options that contribute to weight loss.
This market opens opportunities for the sector, as indicated by Mintel, which can use food and beverage processing to reduce fat, sugar and sodium, helping in weight control, sense of well-being and muscle mass gain, among other attributes that are connected to these demands.
This approach centered on naturalness was observed at The Food Tech Summit & Expo 2024, Latin America’s leading trade fair for ingredients, additives, solutions, processing and packaging for the food industry. The event was held in October in Mexico City.
Among the categories of products and services presented, according to our team that was present at the fair, functional, fortifying, natural, organic and dehydrated ingredients stood out.
In addition, 42% of exhibitors presented innovations in natural or functional ingredients, indicating the growing interest in this category of food.
News from Duas Rodas at The Food Tech
Julio Abatepaulo, Latam Business Manager , says that The Food Tech was an opportunity for Duas Rodas to display the quality of its applied samples, in what is the most relevant fair in Latin America in ingredients for food and beverages. “We position Duas Rodas as an important player in flavors, which is our core business, but with an emphasis on natural flavors and botanical extracts, such as acerola, AnthoPower™ and our yerba mate line.”
Thus, the largest Brazilian flavor house shared several possibilities at the event that included functional products and the addition of technologies in food and beverages. Eloize Krause, Latam Commercial Manager points out that the fair contributes to Duas Rodas’ global positioning and to demonstrate to customers the product portfolio with functionality. “This was one of our advantages at The Food Tech this year: welcoming customers from other categories, who acquire not only flavors, but products with functionalities, such as supplement and nutraceutical companies.”
